About Us
A small group of ladies met on 19th July 1932 to plan the start of a ladies' weekly meeting. The name Bright Hour was decided. On the 3rd October of the same year the first meeting was held. Prior to this handbills were distributed around the town. The meeting would be on Mondays at 2.45pm and it was agreed to use the Sankey Hymn Book. The next decision was to have a Women's Sunday and Rally.

On the 11th September 1933 the meeting made its first donation to the church, giving £3 to the Trust Fund. Then in February 1935 they had their first Bazaar stall. In the early years the minister's wife was the president. As times changed and more ladies were working, the meeting moved to 7.15pm on Monday evenings.

We still meet on Monday evenings, and celebrate a Ladies weekend each year in October. A donation is given from the meeting to the Church Gift Day - many times larger than the original £3. We still have a stall at the anual Bazaar. Donations have been made to many charities over the years.
